About Gladel

Institutional

GLADEL (Latin American Group for the Study of Lupus) is a Latin American initiative, spearheaded by local rheumatologists with the purpose of:
  1. undertaking multi-center studies in local patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
  2. stimulating projects to increase the knowledge of SLE and its consequences in patients, physicians and the community in Latin America.

GLADEL
is an international group formed by experts in the field of SLE, including 34 rheumatology research centres located in main cities from nine Latin American countries.
The group’s philosophy is inclusive, enthusiastic and looking forward to the incorporation of new centers and countries within Latin America, as new projects arise linked to the above-mentioned objectives. Decisions are always taken by consensus among equals.
GLADEL began its first research protocol with the initiation of the SLE inception cohort in 1997 incorporating to date more than 1400 patients.
