International Congress on SLE 2013
The efforts of GLADEL were recognized by the international community, which chose it to host the 10th International Congress on SLE. It took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in April 2013 and allowed the close interaction of experts from around the globe.
There were two hallmark issues regarding this congress.
First, it was not carried out by a person recognized in the world of Lupus, but by the GLADEL consortium representing all of Latin America.
Second, it was co-sponsored by the national rheumatology society, the Sociedad Argentina de Reumatología.
This strategy resulted in the following achievements:
- It was the lupus congress with the largest number of attendees since its creation (about 2000 people)
- The largest number of abstracts received (approximately 400)
- The first patient congress (300 registered).
